Where will you live?

For your first two years at Hull York Medical School, you will be based at either the Hull or York campus. You are allocated a campus in your course offer and you apply either to the University of Hull or the University of York for your accommodation.

Whichever accommodation you choose, you can be sure of a friendly welcome, an excellent support network, and access to a range of social activities during arrivals week and beyond.

From your third to fifth years, you will rotate through a series of clinical placements at different NHS sites, including York, Hull, Scarborough, Scunthorpe and Grimsby. You will become truly immersed in life and culture within each city, working alongside and treating members of the local community.

If you rotate to more than one placement location during a year of study, you will be expected to maintain accommodation in your home campus city (Hull or York), but you will be provided with free NHS accommodation for any placement away from your home campus.

If you are on placement for a full year of study at the same location outside of Hull or York, you will be provided with free NHS accommodation during your placement period. If you are on placement for a full year in Hull, or a full year in York, you will be expected to maintain your own accommodation.

Currently, our students are placed at two locations during Year 3, but spend a full year at one location in Year 4 and a full year at another location in Year 5.
