Funding for postgraduate taught programmes

There are a number of funding options available to help with costs and support your postgraduate study. To apply for funding, you will need to hold an offer to study at Hull York Medical School.

The following scholarships and bursaries apply to the following programmes:

Graduate Scholarship

We are pleased to offer a 10% reduction in tuition fees to University of Hull and University of York graduates joining one of our Postgraduate Taught Programmes for 2025 entry.

Postgraduate Taught Widening Access Scholarship

We are pleased to offer two Postgraduate Taught Widening Access Scholarships for 2025 entry to UK applicants who meet our eligibility criteria. The value of each scholarship is £4,800 offered as a tuition fee discount.

Postgraduate Taught International Excellence Scholarship

We are pleased to offer two Postgraduate Taught International Excellence Scholarships for 2025 entry to International applicants who meet our eligibility criteria. Each award offers a 20% tuition fee reduction in the total tuition fees for 2025 entry.

Physician Associate

Funding for MSc in Physician Associate Studies

Health Education England funding

Health Education England (HEE) offers funding of £5,000 per student, to all students starting the MSc in Physician Associate Studies programme in September 2024.

This payment is paid as £2,500 per annum via Hull York Medical School. This funding is to support travel to clinical placements.

There is no need to apply for this scholarship, the payments is automatically applied.

Physician Associate Studentships

We are pleased to offer four Physician Associate Studentships for 2025 entry, awarded to those individuals who achieve the highest scores at interview for the MSc in Physician Associate Studies. Each studentship is worth £1,000 and is offered as a tuition fee reduction of £500 per year of study.

There is no need to apply for this Studentship as it is awarded as part of the admissions process.

Health Professions Education

Funding for PGCert, PGDip and MSc Health Professions Education

Reduced tuition fees

To support the professional development of the Hull York Medical School community – our staff, alumni and partners – we offer reduced tuition fees of up to 50% for our Health Professions Education programme.

Yorkshire and Humber Deanery funding (Health Professions Education)

Our Certificate in Health Professions Education is recognised by the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery as an approved route for GPs who are interested in becoming a GP trainer.

Funding is available for this programme through the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery, subject to availability. For those considering becoming a GP trainer, visit the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery website for further information about funding for the programme and the application process.

Students on our programme often find funding from local healthcare organisations and training educator providers.
