About us

Our mission is to advance healthcare. We progress disease diagnosis, pioneer innovative treatments, and improve patient outcomes. Our expertise spans diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, vascular, and cancer research.

In partnership with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, we conduct cutting-edge medical research, actively involving patients in all stages, including clinical trials.

We bring together a diverse team of clinical researchers, healthcare professionals, academics, and scientists to tackle the most pressing challenges in clinical medicine, locally and globally.

Our clinical partnership offers a wealth of clinical and research expertise, facilities and services across our three main sites of research: Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill Hospital, and Hull York Medical School.

Why our research is needed

Healthcare is evolving rapidly in response to a growing and ageing population, resulting in changing healthcare needs such as the increased prevalence of long-term health conditions and multimorbidity.

Hull faces particular challenges, being one of the most deprived areas in the UK and with a high prevalence of chronic healthcare conditions and poorer outcomes.

There is a real need for research which addresses these evolving healthcare needs, reduces inequalities in experience and clinical outcomes, and which focuses on the needs of patients.

Public and patient involvement

We want to make sure that people with many different perspectives and experiences have the chance to influence what we do and how we do it. This helps us to focus on what really matters to people.

We are looking for patients, carers and people who use health and care services to join us.

You can find get involved through the University of Hull's 'Involve Hull' network or email InvolveHull@hull.ac.uk
