Lewis is a Lecturer in Data Science and is also the Deputy Chair of the Postgraduate Board of Examiners.

Biography

Lewis obtained his PhD in Probability and Statistics from the Durham Univesity in 2016, and then moved to the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York. He was appointed as Lecturer in Data Science in 2022.

Research

Lewis’s research is focused on how we can use advanced data science techniques to answer research questions relating to mental health and the health workforce. He has a wide range of methodological interests, including machine learning, statistical methods and causal modelling. He also has an interest in Open Science principles.

Teaching

Lewis is module lead for the Data Science in Healthcare module on the University of York’s MSc Data Science programme. He also leads a Phase I SSIP on Health Data Science for MB BS students. Lewis also contributes to the teaching of quantitative methods across the medical school.

Lewis offers postgraduate research supervision, and welcomes enquiries from prospective students interested in applying data science methods to research questions related to mental health or the health workforce.
