Previously Zivarna worked at City, University of London in the Division of Health Services Research and Management in the School of Health and Psychological Sciences where she worked on the Consent project funded by NHS Blood and Transplant which explores consent for interventional donor research in organ donation.
Zivarna began this role after a Research Associate post the Academy of Primary Care at the Hull York Medical School working on the PEOPLE-Hull study funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research which aims to improve help-seeking for lung symptoms in Hull and the PRIORITY study funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research under the TRANSFORM programme which explores the experiences of cancer diagnostic pathways and care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zivarna completed her PhD in Human Sciences which explored body donation with a focus on identifying good practice in the interactions between Medical School Anatomy Unit staff and families after donor death.
She has interests in the social aspects of body and organ donation; qualitative research methodologies and analysis, particularly ethnographic approaches; exploring hidden work; public and community engagement, outreach and widening participation; and the display of human remains in museums and archaeological sites.
