Usmaan Omer is a Research Associate, who joined the Hull York Medical School in 2024 to work on a project to produce a rapid evidence assessment informing Curriculum Development for Veterinary General Practice Specialty Training.

Biography

Usmaan has over five years' experience conducting research in health professions education, with publications in leading peer-review journals.

Research

Usmaan's research interests include prescribing education, curriculum design, international health education partnerships, and inter-professional learning.

Usmaan completed his PhD from Hull York Medical School in 2022, with a thesis entitled: Appraising the Curricula of UK Non-Medical Prescribing Programmes and its Role in producing High-Level Independent Prescribers. Usmaan also holds a BSc in Biomedical Sciences and MSc in Medical Education, both attained from Durham University. Usmaan also completed a postdoctoral research project from the University of Manchester, where he explored Global Health Education Partnership between high income and low income countries.

Teaching

Usmaan has strong experience in postgraduate medical education, with teaching activities including one-to-one mentoring, assignment marking and supervising MHPE dissertations.
