Founder member of the Infection Research Group at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. Principal Investigator for RECOVERY and HEAL-COVID phase 3 clinical trials in COVID-19, for PHOSP-COVID observational study in Long-COVID and SIREN observational study of COVID in healthcare workers, and for a pharma-led phase 2 trial examining novel therapeutics in hepatitis B infection. Involved in the development of capacity for GM vaccine research in Hull. Supervises academic trainees and clinical fellows with projects on COVID-19 and hepatitis B. Leads on medical student teaching within Infectious Diseases at HUTH.
