My role at HYMS is contributing towards teaching in a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, in particular the MSc Pharmacology and Drug Development programme. I am also the Deputy Programme Director and admission tutor for the MSc in Pharmacology and Drug Development.
Dr Su received her MSc (2007) in Medical Biotechnology from the Universiti of Malaysia, Sarawak. After she completed her PhD in pharmacology at Monash University, Australia (2019), she worked as a research assistant at Monash Institutes of Pharmaceutical Sciences, focusing on male contraceptive development. She was also a passionate and experienced teaching associate at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University since 2015 before taking up a lecturer position at HYMS in 2023.
Dr Su’s main research interest is investigating ethnopharmacology for human diseases/disorders, in particular urogenital related.
Her PhD research aimed to assess the effectiveness of plant extracts in treating urological disorders by investigating their effects on nerve-mediated contractility of isolated rat prostates. The research has provided substantial evidence to test the plant extract in clinical trials for the treatment of symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia.
She is also interested in human gene expression studies as well as anticancer and antimicrobial compound isolation from biological resources.
