Professor Mahmoud Loubani

Professor Loubani has been a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust from April 2009. He has been very active in medical education and research having many roles in both. He was Associate Director of Clinical Studies from August 2013 – 31st August 2015 for Hull York Medical School, Foundation Training Programme Director from 1st August 2009 – 31st July 2014 for North Yorkshire and East Coast Foundation School, Deputy and then Director of Medical Education from 1st July 2014 to 31st January 2018 for Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Member of HYMS Student Fitness to Practice Committee from January 2018 to February 2020 for Hull York Medical School and still a member of the Board of Studies.

He has been Director of Surgical Research and Development from 15th January 2018 to 30th April 2021 for Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Clinical Research Network Lead for Surgery from October 2014 till 31st March 2019 for the NIHR Clinical Research Network Yorkshire and the Humber. Professor Loubani was initially appointed as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer from 1st January 2010 – 30th October 2015 for Hull York Medical School and Honorary Professor since 1st November 2015.

He also is a council member of the Hull Medical Society and previous President from May 2019 to May 2021.
