Kath has a broad range of research interests that span the health system including evaluation of public health interventions and policy, patterns and inequalities in child health with a particular focus on nutrition and obesity, the impact of food insecurity on children and families, dietary patterns across the lifecourse and the impact of social determinants of health on diet quality and obesity.

She is passionate about working collaboratively and across the health and social care system and undertaking research to inform public health policy and practice. She also has an interest in analysis of routinely collected health data for research building on her extensive experience working in public health intelligence in national government.

Kath is Partnerships Director for the BaBi network, operational lead for Communications, Networks and Partnerships for the Association of the Study of Obesity and vice chair of the Faculty of Public Health Special Interest Group on Food.

Biography

Kath is a Registered Nutritionist and epidemiologist with 18 years experience working in public health intelligence for local, regional and national government bodies with a particular focus on diet and obesity, evaluation methods, inequalities and the social determinants of health.

Teaching

Kath teaches on Phase 1 of the MBBS programme.
