NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Plastic Surgery

Role at Hull York Medical School

I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Plastic Surgery, working under the supervision of Professor Ian Chetter (Professor of Surgery) and Professor Mat Hardman (Chair in Wound Healing), conducting research into surgical wound infections, wound healing, hand surgery and skin cancer.

Biography

I am an NIHR Clinical Lecturer and a Specialty Trainee in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After graduating from HYMS and undertaking foundation training in West Yorkshire, I completed an MD in Medical Sciences with HYMS examining a novel intervention for preventing surgical site infection. I have published and presented this work widely and it has recently been a significant contribution to new NICE guidance on the topic. I undertook Core Surgical Training in East Yorkshire and will complete my Plastic Surgery Training on the Pan-Yorkshire rotation.

My areas of research interest include surgical site infection and wound healing, hand surgery and skin malignancies.
