My role is to support, grow, quality assure and oversee community placements at HYMS. Working alongside PD and Deputy PD to develop primary care placements within the evolving curriculum. Acting as an advocate for primary care. Developing a narrative for general practice as a vibrant academic and clinical discipline. Embedding myself in the local healthcare system as an advocate for HYMS and primary care.
I have spent 25 years as a fulltime GP in the West Midlands, 22 of them as senior partner and regard myself as a clinician with an interest in medical education. I have provided undergraduate and postgraduate GP education throughout this time. I developed a narrative and cooperative process that culminated in formation of one the largest PCNs in the country. I completed a Masters in Medical Education including a dissertation devising and implementing a QA system for placements at Derby
I have published action research on inter-professional education and the learning organisation within primary care
