Simulation plays a key role in the development of clinical reasoning, procedural skills and non-technical or human factors skills. My role is to lead on the development and implementation of simulation in the MBBS programme and to utilise simulation where it is most effective.
My clinical background is as an anaesthetist with an interest in paediatrics. I completed a simulation fellowship in 2012 and subsequently became deputy director, then director of simulation at the Hull Institute of Learning and Simulation. I'm interested in the potential applications of innovative approaches to simulation and healthcare, working on projects including 3D printing, extended reality and devices to reduce cognitive load.
