Anju delivers teaching on the MBBS (Year 1 &2), MSc Clinical Anatomy (and Education) and Physician Associate programmes. Her special interest is in neuroanatomy.
Anju is the Anatomy lead for the year 2 MBBS. In this role she has oversight over the year 2 MBBS anatomy curriculum and is involved in year 2 MBBS assessments.
Anju is also involved in postgraduate teaching. She is the module lead for Clinical Anatomy of Limbs and Spine module, Clinical Microanatomy and the Embryology and Clinical Neuroanatomy module. As the deputy chair of the Academic Cases Committee, Anju helps in the decision-making of the academic misconduct cases and fitness to study cases.
Anju is a clinically trained anatomist and has been teaching anatomy since 2013. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
After completing her MBBS from Government Medical College, Kottayam, India, Anju chose non-clinical pathway for her post-graduation. She did her MD in anatomy over 3 years which gave her an in depth knowledge in gross anatomy (trunk, pelvis, limbs, spine, head and neck), microanatomy, embryology and neuroanatomy along with good pedagogical practices.
Anju has been working as Assistant professor and Associate professor in a medical college in India before moving to the UK in 2021.Anju is also a basic science examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow.
Anju did her MD dissertation on motor entry points of muscles of lower limb to help with anatomical landmarks for botulinum injection for the treatment of spasticity. She has interest in further research on motor entry points of muscles of upper limb and face.
Anju is also interested in research around anatomy education and assessment.
