Former MP and labour health secretary Frank Dobson
14 November 2019
Recognising the need to develop the NHS workforce of the future, Frank supported the establishment of Hull York Medical School
We are very sad to hear about the death of Frank Dobson on 11 November 2019.
Throughout his time as an MP Frank Dobson, campaigned for health, social care and education. As Labour Secretary of State for Health he oversaw one of the largest hospital building programmes in NHS history, and introduced the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to provide national guidance and advice to improve health and social care.
A keen supporter of the NHS, and recognising the need to develop the NHS workforce of the future, Frank supported the establishment of Hull York Medical School.
Our thoughts are with his family, close friends, and colleagues at this very sad time.
