Chair of Council, Barry Dodd CBE

We are very sad to hear that Lord Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, Barry Dodd CBE, died on Wednesday 30^th May 2018.

Barry was the Chair of Council and Pro-Chancellor of the University of Hull since 2013. He chaired the Joint Board of Hull York Medical School (our governing body) on behalf of both Universities for a number of years.

Barry’s passion for education and public service shone through in his commitment to the healthcare and wellbeing of the population in the region. His incisive and inquisitive chairpersonship of the Joint Board added great value to our partnership. Barry gave Hull York Medical School unwavering support in our successful bid for expansion, in his role as Chair of the Joint Board and Chair of the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Our thoughts are with his family, close friends, and colleagues at this very sad time.
