Lobbying for a radical new NHS cancer plan and opportunities in PET based experimental medicine
We are delighted to invite you to this year's annual Endowed Allam Lecture, taking place both online and at Middleton Hall, University of Hull.
The prestigious Allam Lecture series has welcomed keynote speeches from some of the country's leading experts in medical research in recent years, and we are very pleased to be joined in 2024 by Professor Pat Price, Professor at Imperial College London.
Pat Price trained in general medicine in Cambridge and in oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital. She has been a clinical oncology consultant for 35 years; as a clinical academic oncologist at Hammersmith Hospital and in 2000, she established the first Ralston Paterson Chair in Radiation Oncology at the Christie Hospital and set up the Wolfson Molecular Imaging Centre at the University of Manchester. Pat returned to Imperial College in 2010 as Visiting Professor in Oncology and is now involved in a large-scale international research programme to develop new quantitative in vivo imaging technology with Total Body PET as well as a large scale biology and physics programme to develop laser based productions of high energy ions for new therapy in cancer.
Pat founded and is Chair of Trustees of the national charity Radiotherapy UK which is appointed as the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Radiotherapy (APPGRT) aiming to improve radiotherapy in the UK APPG for Radiotherapy. She set up the Radiotherapy4Life • Radiotherapy UK programme and high profile #CatchUpWithCancer campaign to lobby the Government for a new national cancer recovery plan. She also co-founded the Global Coalition for Radiotherapy.
In addition to this year's keynote lecture, attendees will have the opportunity to discover some of the exciting research work currently being undertaken by Hull York Medical School and the wider Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Hull, and to submit questions to a panel of experts, including Professor Price.
