Professor Jonathan Bennett

Associate Dean for Students

Jonathan Bennett is Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Associate Dean for Students at HYMS.

Jonathan is a cell biologist by background, who after studying biochemistry to PhD level in Cambridge did postdoctoral research at University College London, Harvard Medical School and the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. He then held University positions at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School and Imperial College London, where he combined research with steadily increasing responsibilities for teaching medical students and organising courses.

In 2003 Jonathan joined HYMS as one of the small group of academics initally recruited to establish the new medical school. As well as his roles in organisation and delivery of the medical curriculum and establishing a student support network, he has taken other responsibilities including managing the establishment phase of a HYMS Research Centre at the University of Hull (now the Centre for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research) and currently as Chair of the Postgraduate Research Board.
