Professor Una Macleod has been appointed as Deputy Dean of Hull York Medical School. Una has been Professor of Primary Care at HYMS since September 2010. She works part time as a GP in Hull and leads the Supportive Care, Early Diagnosis and Advanced Disease (SEDA) Research Group, part of the Centre for Health and Population Science, with Professor Miriam Johnson. Her main research interests include primary care and cancer, and health inequalities. Una is also Director of the Academic Training Programme in East Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire.
On announcement of her appointment, Professor Macleod said: ‘It’s a real privilege for me to take up this appointment and I look forward to helping shape the direction of the Hull York Medical School over the next few years. In particular I want to contribute to ensuring that we are a force for good with respect to health care delivery and health outcomes in our region, both in terms of the quality and aptitudes of the doctors we train and the research we undertake.’
