HYMS Lecturer in Reproductive Medicine Dr Roger Sturmey has been invited to sit on the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Association of Clinical Embryologists (ACE), which is the UK Professional Body for practising clinical embryologists.
ACE is managed by an elected group of highly experienced and committed senior embryologists and laboratory managers who are specialists in IVF, ICSI and associated fertility treatments and the ethical and moral issues surrounding them. They are experienced spokespeople who are regularly called upon to give informed and insightful comment on the key issues affecting the world of embryology and assisted conception in general.
The committee Dr Sturmey is now sitting on has been busy working on the UK’s co-ordinated response to the EU "One of Us" Bill which was recently heard and rejected in the European Parliament. It has also been responding to the UK Government consultation on mitochondrial transfer.
Dr Sturmey, who works in the HYMS Centre for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research, said: "I am very honoured to have been asked to work alongside a first rate group of colleagues, to help advise ACE as new discoveries continue to be made in the field of infertility treatment."
